THE STOURPORT HIGH SCHOOL & VIth FORM COLLEGE – EXAM RESULTS 2017

GCSE Examinations Results 2017

Students and staff celebrated an excellent set of GCSE results with many outstanding individual successes this summer.  The number of students gaining a pass in English and mathematics increased despite the new numerical 9-1 grading system and tougher examinations.  We are exceptionally proud of the number of students who achieved the extremely challenging grade 9.  Top performer Georgina Knott (pictured centre front of our photograph) who achieved 3 x 9, 6 x A*, 1 x A* Distinction and Distinction* continues her studies at our superb state of the art VIth Form College which opens for students in September.

Principal Lorna Deakin said “I am thrilled that our students have achieved some amazing results this year.  These successes are a reflection of the hard work by our students and the strong direction and support that they were given by their teachers and parents.

It has been a fantastic experience sharing this news with our students and we look forward to them continuing their success with us as they move on to a wide variety of A-Level and vocational courses.”

The number of passes at the highest grades A and A* significantly increased, exceeding the national average.  Students following vocational courses achieved exceptionally well with 83% securing Distinction and Distinction* grades, on average a grade above expected progress. Once again the vast majority of students choosing to go to university secured their first choice places at a variety of universities across the country including the prestigious Russell Group and Oxbridge.
