Welcome to The Stourport High School (fondly known as SHS!) & Sixth Form
As Headteacher, I place tremendous importance on providing the highest standards of education for every child entrusted in our care. It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to our website on behalf of the entire SHS Family. Whether you're considering the exciting next chapter of your child's educational journey with us, or you're interested in joining our dedicated team as a valued member of staff, I invite you to explore the possibilities that lie ahead.
Here at SHS, we envision a future where every child not only thrives academically but also flourishes into a well-rounded individual, ready to embrace the world with confidence and compassion. We truly believe that every single child who walks through our doors arrives with unique gifts. Our goal is to help them flourish, and our 7-year offer is a journey packed with diverse opportunities to help them discover new talents and build on the ones they already have.
"Every child celebrates their own success and the success of others."

Elizabeth Ford
Headteacher
We are proud to lead our school, which serves our town and its surrounding villages as part of the Severn Academies Educational Trust.
This is just a glimpse of our wonderful school; we warmly invite you to visit us to discover the opportunities SHS has to offer.
Our Core Pillars
A School at the Heart of its Community
We're more than just classrooms and textbooks. SHS aims to be a vibrant hub, fostering strong bonds within our community and offering opportunities for growth and shared experiences. We believe in creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where every student feels valued and empowered to contribute their unique voice. Our school is a place where friendships are forged, dreams are nurtured, and lifelong memories are created, lifting children to new heights by exposing them to the possibilities the wider world has to offer.
Building Character for Today and Tomorrow
We believe in developing well-rounded individuals. We actively teach our core values, underpinned by the moral, intellectual, performance and civic virtues, creating a supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to flourish both within school and beyond.
Inclusive Excellence for All
We are committed to providing a fully inclusive comprehensive education that celebrates diversity and empowers every student to reach their full potential. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to shine, regardless of their starting point. Our approach is personalised and collaborative, ensuring each student is challenged and supported. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire, encouraging students to think critically, explore their passions, and develop the skills they need to succeed in an ever-changing world.
We believe that education is a collaborative endeavour, where students, teachers, families, and the wider community work hand-in-hand to create an enriching experience for all.
We're excited for you to become a part of the SHS family!

🏐 Year 7 Netball Development Morning 🏐
Our Year 7 students had a fantastic morning in the Dome taking part in a Netball Development Event. The girls worked through six different skill-based drills focusing on developing their passing, movement and gameplay, before putting these skills into practice in matches against other local schools.
It was great to see our students competing against teams from Haybridge, Baxter, Wolverley, Holy Trinity and King Charles, showing brilliant teamwork, effort and enthusiasm throughout the morning.
We entered two teams made up of:
Eliza W, Sierra S, Isabelle B, Jess W, Lexi D, Phoebe K, Lexi-Mae T, Eden-Marie P, Annie-Lou N, Jasmine H, Emilia N, India C, Holly T and Lexi S.
A big thank you also goes to our fantastic Sixth Form student leaders – Meg B, Amy H and Tiana R – who supported the event and gained valuable leadership experience by helping to run activities and support the younger students.
Well done to everyone involved! 👏🤾♀️ 🎽

SHS is proud to announce the grand opening of The POP!, a dedicated intervention centre designed to break down barriers to learning and ensure that every child, regardless of their starting point, has the opportunity to shine.
Located at the very heart of the school, The POP! serves as more than just a classroom; it is a sanctuary for personalised support. Whether a student faces academic hurdles, emotional challenges, or social barriers, The POP! provides the specific provision needed to get them back on track.
A Culture of Inclusive Excellence
The initiative is led by Sarah Cooper, Head of The POP!, whose leadership is already transforming the school’s daily culture. Under her guidance, the centre focuses on "Inclusive Excellence for All"—a philosophy that moves away from one-size-fits-all education and toward a bespoke approach.
"We are committed to celebrating diversity which empowers every student to reach their full potential." says Dr. Lizzy Ford (Headteacher at SHS). "We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to shine, regardless of their starting point. Our approach is personalised and collaborative, ensuring they are challenged and supported."
Powered by the Community
The realisation of this project was a true community effort. Over the Christmas period, Sarah Cooper successfully campaigned for the school to be included in the Tesco Stronger Starts (blue token) scheme. The response from local residents was overwhelming. A huge thank you to Tesco for their ongoing support.
The school extends a heartfelt thank you to every member of the community who dropped a blue token into the box. These funds have been instrumental in equipping the center with the resources necessary to support our children effectively.
🎭 Spotlight on Our Stars!
Our production of Will! is shaping up to be a total showstopper. We have to give a massive shout out to Sydney and Paige, who are taking on the hilarious roles of Snout and Snug in our 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' sequence. Seriously, don’t they look incredible in their costumes? Sydney is already perfecting that iconic Wall pose, and Paige is bringing all the charm to our favourite joiner-turned-lion! 🧱🦁 We can’t wait for you to see the magic (and the mayhem) they bring to the stage.
A huge shout-out to our Year 9 Design & Technology students who have been working hard to bring their ideas to life! This week, we are celebrating the successful completion of their bespoke glasses stands. 🛠️✨
Special recognition goes to Ben, Maisie, and James from Mrs Kenwrick’s group. Their creative designs really stood out for their originality and craftsmanship. It’s fantastic to see such innovative problem-solving in action!

Huge thanks to Athlete Impact for visiting us today, Tuesday 10 March! 🏆
A small group of our Year 11 students took part in an empowering intervention session out on the 4G pitch focused on resilience and mental strength, followed by an inspiring "Think Bigger" assembly for our Year 10 & 11 Business students.
By connecting our pupils with professional athlete mentors, the sessions bridged the gap between elite sport and academic success. Proving that with the right mindset, discipline, and ambition, there are no limits to what they can achieve.

World Book Day Success in Our New Space! 📚🎉
Our brand new library was the heart of the school today for our World Book Day celebrations! It was a day filled with friendly rivalry during our tutor quizzes and the excitement of students choosing new titles with their book tokens. We also had plenty of curious minds trying to guess exactly how many books were tucked into our mystery jar.
To make sure our library truly belongs to our students, we spent time voting on our favorite cover art and finalizing the list for our next library order. Seeing so many students passionate about their next haul was the perfect way to kick off this new chapter for our school.
