We’ve now visited the iconic Arc de Triomphe!
Standing at the top of the Champs-Élysées, this monumental landmark offered another brilliant opportunity for students to connect their classroom learning with real-world history. From its detailed sculptures to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath it, the significance of the site really brought French history to life.
Students have continued to show maturity and respect while exploring — fantastic ambassadors for SHS once again.

🇫🇷 SHS On Tour – The Ultimate Paris Coach Route 🇫🇷🚌✨
The weather may have changed our plans, but it hasn’t changed our ambition! We’re exploring Paris by coach today, with photo opportunities at some of the capital’s most famous landmarks — all part of Mr Moffat’s expertly planned super route.
Here’s where we’re heading:
🗼 Trocadéro – One of the best viewpoints in Paris, offering stunning postcard views of the Eiffel Tower across the Seine.
🏛 Arc de Triomphe – The monumental tribute to France’s military history, standing proudly at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle.
🇫🇷 Place de la Concorde – The largest square in Paris, home to the famous Luxor Obelisk and steeped in revolutionary history.
⛪ Place de la Madeleine – Dominated by La Madeleine church, designed like a classical Roman temple.
💎 Place Vendôme – An elegant square known for its luxury boutiques and the iconic Vendôme Column.
⛪ Notre-Dame Cathedral – The world-renowned Gothic cathedral on the Île de la Cité, rich in history and architecture.

We’re about to head out on a boat tour along the Seine!
Seeing Paris from the water offers a completely different perspective — gliding past historic bridges, world-famous landmarks and some of the city’s most beautiful architecture. It’s the perfect way to take in the heart of the capital and reflect on everything we’ve explored so far.

We have reached Level 2 of the Eiffel Tower — and something truly magical is happening…
It is snowing in Paris ❄️🇫🇷
For the first time ever on an SHS trip, students are standing high above the city with snow gently falling around them. Watching the Paris skyline turn white from the second floor of one of the world’s most iconic landmarks is a moment none of us will forget.
Students are embracing the magic of the moment — exploring, taking in the breathtaking views, and experiencing Paris in a way that feels almost storybook-perfect.
An extraordinary memory being made right now at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

We’re back at Château de Grande Romaine after another fantastic day in Paris.
Everyone has eaten well and is now finishing the evening in the best possible way — making and enjoying fresh crêpes together.
You could say today has been un-crêpe-able… and this activity really has been the icing on the (pan)cake! 🥞
Lots of smiles, plenty of toppings, and a brilliant atmosphere as we wind down before bed.

🇫🇷 SHS On Tour – Montmartre Magic 🇫🇷✨
This afternoon we explored the beautiful district of Montmartre with our teachers — soaking up the history, culture and atmosphere of one of Paris’ most iconic areas.
With its cobbled streets, lively squares, street artists and cafés, Montmartre has such a distinctive character. Students fully embraced the experience, asking thoughtful questions and making brilliant links to their learning back in the classroom.
At the top of the hill, we visited the stunning Sacré-Cœur, where we enjoyed breathtaking panoramic views across the city.
A particular highlight was seeing where Raphaël lives — one of the key characters from our KS3 French curriculum. Bringing classroom learning to life in a real-world setting made the experience even more special and meaningful for our students.
Of course, we also enjoyed delicious crêpes, picked up souvenirs and made the most of every moment.

What an experience at the Stade de France!
Students have enjoyed incredible views inside one of Europe’s most iconic sporting venues — and with the stadium fully decorated for the Six Nations Championship, it made the visit feel even more special. We feel very privileged to have seen it dressed and ready for such a major international event.
It has been fantastic to see how respectfully our students have conducted themselves throughout the visit — representing SHS with maturity and pride.

🇫🇷 SHS On Tour – La Défense to Stade de France 🇫🇷✨
We’ve arrived at La Grande Arche and enjoyed fantastic views stretching across the city — including a clear line towards the iconic Arc de Triomphe standing proudly along the historic axis of Paris.
Students have had time to eat, recharge and take in the modern architecture of La Défense, offering a real contrast to the historic landmarks we’ve seen earlier today.
Now we’re on our way to our next exciting destination: Stade de France 🏟️

🇫🇷 SHS On Tour – Metro with a View! 🚇✨
We’re travelling across Paris on the Metro — starting on Line 6, which has given us some incredible views of the Eiffel Tower as we passed through the city! 🇫🇷🗼
It’s been a brilliant moment seeing such an iconic landmark appear right outside the carriage windows.
We’ll shortly be changing over to Line 1 as we continue our journey towards La Défense — navigating the network like seasoned travellers.
Students are showing great independence and teamwork as we move through one of the world’s most impressive metro systems.
