University Applications

Please take a moment to read the University Applications Statement for 2020 Entry

The Stourport High School & VIth Form College students have a choice of academic and vocational level 3 qualifications.

A statement with regard to AS and A level entry for students applying to university for 2020 entry.

As a school we encourage most of our students (based on GCSE scores) to pursue three A Levels in Year 12, with a small number of the highest achievers doing four. Additionally, some will study Level 3 courses in Mathematical Studies and/or Extended Project, mostly reaching assessment in Year 13. All subjects are delivered by specialist teachers.

We have adopted a mixed approach to the introduction of the new reformed A levels. In some A level subjects we have entered students for the new reformed AS examinations at the end of Year 12 in order to gauge their performance. Students will then be entered for the full linear A level examinations at the end of Year 13. Consequently, the students’ AS levels will not count unless they are dropped and cashed in at the end of Year 12. Below is a list of subjects which are entered for AS levels and a list of those going for straight linear examinations at the end of Year 13. For those students entered for only full linear courses in 2020, predicted grades have been determined by internal assessment and teachers’ professional judgement. All others are based on AS results and teachers’ professional judgement.

· Business Studies

· Psychology
